Flauto matte white fluted freestanding bath

Flauto matte white fluted freestanding bath with fluted countertop basin

A freestanding bath is the one object in the bathroom you're allowed to treat like sculpture — everything else arranges itself around it. The trick is deciding what the bath should say. We styled the same room three ways around our three freestanding baths to show how far the accent pieces can take you.

1. Calm & sculptural

The anchor: the Flauto Matte White Fluted Freestanding Bath (£1705.50). Those soft vertical flutes catch daylight the way pleated fabric does, so the bath reads as texture rather than a white oval. Style it with the Flauto Fluted Round Countertop Basin (£108.90) to echo the fluting, and a warm-tone LED mirror for gentle evening light. Matte, quiet, done.

2. Bold & moody

Swap the anchor for the Nero Matte Black Freestanding Bath (£1602.90) and the room's whole mood flips. Black wants contrast: go warm metal with the Swansea Brushed Brass Bath Filler (£180.90) — the champagne tone pops against matte black instead of disappearing into it — and pick a mirror with programmable light like the Orla LED Mirror with Demister & Colour Change (from £379.80) so you can tune the atmosphere from crisp daylight to warm evening.

3. Bright & classic

The Amalfi Gloss White Freestanding Bath (£1238.40) is the timeless route: high-gloss, easy-roll rim, suits everything from period homes to new builds. Chrome is its natural partner — the Swansea Bath Filler Tap (£146.70) keeps lines clean — and a bright, rectangular LED mirror adds the polish. Add greenery and it stays airy year-round.

One rule, whichever you pick

Repeat each material at least twice. If the bath is matte, keep something else matte; if the tap is brass, let it appear again in the mirror frame or basin waste. That echo is what makes a bathroom feel designed rather than collected.
