Everything you need to know about how Velmont Bathrooms ships heavy luxury bathroom goods, and what we need from you on delivery day.
1. Delivery timescales
Lead times and delivery dates shown on the website are estimates only. We'll confirm timings with your order confirmation and keep you informed if anything changes. Time is not of the essence of the contract, and we can't accept liability for courier or freight delays.
2. Kerbside pallet delivery
Our bathtubs, basins and sanitaryware are heavy (cast-iron and solid copper baths weigh 50–180kg+) and fragile, so standard deliveries are made by pallet freight:
- Delivery is to the kerbside / nearest level hardstanding by tail-lift vehicle and pallet truck.
- The driver is not insured or equipped to carry goods inside your home, upstairs, or across gravel/grass.
- Please arrange able-bodied help (and any lifting equipment) to move the goods from the kerb into your property.
- Someone must be available on the agreed delivery day to receive and sign for the goods.
3. Access
Tell us in writing before dispatch about any access issues — narrow lanes, weight limits, low bridges, parking restrictions or pedestrianised zones. If a delivery fails because of unnotified access problems, redelivery and storage charges apply.
4. Failed delivery & storage
If nobody is available, access is obstructed, or there isn't sufficient manpower to unload, the carrier will return the goods to the depot. You'll be charged the carrier's redelivery fee plus storage at £25 (+VAT) per pallet per day until delivery or collection is completed.
5. Check your delivery
- Inspect the packaging before signing. If anything is torn, crushed or punctured, write "DAMAGED PACKAGING" on the delivery note — signing "unchecked" invalidates transit claims.
- If damage is severe, photograph it and refuse the delivery.
- Unpack and inspect the goods themselves within 48 hours and report any damage or shortage to contact@velmontbathrooms.co.uk with photos.
- Do not fit, tile or plumb in goods before inspecting them — installation counts as acceptance.
6. Multiple items
Larger orders may arrive in separate pallet consignments on different days. Each consignment counts as a separate delivery; a delay to one item doesn't entitle cancellation of the rest of your order.
7. International deliveries
For orders outside the UK, goods are supplied Ex-Works (EXW), FCA or FOB as stated on your order confirmation. You are responsible for export/import clearance, duties, taxes and onward delivery.
8. Questions
Delivery questions, access constraints or rearrangements: email contact@velmontbathrooms.co.uk with your order number.
